About Working in Wales

An independent guide to living and working in Wales for healthcare staff and their families.

Why this resource exists

Taking up a healthcare post involves more than finding a job. A workable commute, suitable accommodation, family arrangements and a clear first day all matter. This resource brings those questions together, starting with Powys and allowing other areas to develop in time.

Who it is for

Doctors at every career stage, nurses, allied health professionals, other healthcare colleagues and the people moving with them. You can read the public guides without an account or subscription.

Editorial leadership

Working in Wales is developed by Dr Naeem Aziz, DGM FRCP, a senior SAS physician with experience in older people’s care, rehabilitation, clinical leadership, education and medical workforce development.

Independence

This is an independently maintained resource. It is not an official NHS Wales or health-board website. Professional roles do not imply endorsement by an employer or other organisation. Follow your employer’s current instructions for employment, induction and clinical practice.

Related resources

SAS Doctors Review provides wider professional guidance. ClinicalEdu offers healthcare learning. These are separate websites with their own privacy and access arrangements.

How the site will grow

Powys is the first regional guide. Aneurin Bevan and other areas can be added when their material has been prepared and reviewed. Protected induction resources are a later stage; there is no staff sign-in in this public release.
